UTMSPACE KICKED OFF ROAD SAFETY PROGRAM WITH PETRON MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR – Leading advocate for road safety, Petron returned for the fourth year to raise better awareness on road safety particularly among university students.

UTMSPACE & UTM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. honored for the opportunity given to host and engage on the safety awareness campaign since 2017.  Petron also opened the Amazing Race challenge to more than 30 members of Media Prima Berhad who took up the challenge to experience the unique approach to road safety.

The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility campaign emphasizes on road the safety strongly to ensure the positive social and environmental effects associated with the business operation. Being as a program partners genuinely help organisations deliver public value outcomes by focusing on how services can make differences in the community as well.

Working closely with its long-term partner, Road Safety Department Malaysia (JKJR), UTMSPACE was chosen to kick off Petron Road Safety Program by offering a different approach to learn good road safety habits, of ‘Amazing Race Game’ challenge, launched at Residensi UTM Kuala Lumpur by the Deputy Director General of Road Safety Department Malaysia, YBhg Dato’ Roslan Bin Eusoff, with the presence of UTMSPACE Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai bin Kassim and 843 UTMSPACE students’ participation in the first leg of the program.

The Petron Road Safety ‘Amazing Race’ challenge approaches the road safety subject in a fun, exciting and interactive manner. Teams have to compete against each other as they race to complete a set of tasks. There are four ‘road safety pits-stops’, ranging from answering common road safety quizzes, identifying faulty tyres, interpreting road safety signage, and completing parking tests including a motorbike maneuvering challenge. The first three teams with the correct answers and shortest time will win the race.

Petron’s Road Safety partners – Road Safety Department Malaysia, Road Transport Department, Honda Malaysia and tyre expert Michelin joined Petron hand-in-hand in the Amazing Race to communicate, share and impart knowledge to students nationwide on good road safety habits, road rules and the concern for safety of vehicles.

Petron’s Road Safety Program is aligned with the objectives of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, a global advocacy that promotes safe driving through strict observance of traffic laws, use of seatbelts, wearing of proper helmet for motorcyclists, among others.
