UTMSPACE, represented by Prof. Dr. Mohd Shahrizal Sunar, Acting Chief Executive Officer, and  Zulkifli Osman, General Manager, Division of International Affairs, had a 5-day working visit from June 1 to June 5, 2026 to the Maldives and Sri Lanka to explore collaboration opportunities to offer UTM academic programs to higher education institutions in both countries through transnational education.

The collaborations focused on advancing Transnational Education (TNE) initiatives through academic articulation pathways, student mobility programmes in Management, Gaming and Artificial Intelligence (AI), international student recruitment, and staff exchange opportunities, particularly in IT-related fields. There were 3 (three) Letters of Intent (LOI) signed between UTMSPACE and Villa College, Avid College, and Zikura International College, Maldives. The parties look forward to collaborating to offer UTM academic programs, either through a franchise or an articulation mode.

Zikura International College Rector, Mr Ahmed Nafees exchanged LOI with Prof Mohd Sharizal. Zikura International College is located on Fuvahmulah Island, which is about an hour’s flight from Male International Airport.
