Centre of Diploma Studies Universiti Teknologi Malaysia : Diploma in Architecture Premier Exhibition
Art has no boundaries; in fact through art everybody will have a chance to express their creativity. It was proven by a group of students from Diploma in Architecture, Centre for Diploma Studies, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Bahru, when they were given the opportunity to show their talent in abstract art.
A total of 30 students from Diploma in Architecture UTM participated in the first ever Premier Exhibition which was held from 23 February 2019 to 03 March 2019 at Residensi UTMSPACE Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition was officiated by Yang Berbahagia Datuk Mohammad Nor Bin Mohammad Khalid or better known as Datuk Lat. 30 work of art by participating students were exhibited in this exhibition.
According to Datuk Lat, masterpieces by young generations are usually very bright and colourful; represent young and fresh souls which are very aggressive and energetic. They are trying to accentuate themselves through various techniques which created outstanding masterpiece with aesthetic values.
Quoting from the speech delivered by Premier Exhibition Chairman, Dr. Fawazul Khair bin Ibrahim, he never imagine that there are highly creative and talented young artists who are still interested in abstract art. Based on the exhibited masterpieces, it is proven that abstract art is still revered. This exhibition is a success, not only for Centre for Diploma Studies but for UTMSPACE as a whole. Everybody has shown their commitments towards this project.
For all students involved, they have shown their abilities in abstract art. They also have given a great impact to the public, shown them what abstract art is all about and prove that young artists are still interested in abstract art. All collections gained from sold masterpieces will be channelled to faculty’s fund to support faculty’s art development.
A printed drawing titled ‘Tajung Ayahanda’ by Dr. Fawazul Khair Ibrahim was presented to Datuk Lat as a memento for his presence, while Datuk Lat gave away a book; compilation of his caricature collections to Dr. Fawazul Khair.
En. AR Helmi and Aie Sulong, were among cartoonists who came during the launching of the exhibition as well.
