UTM Explores Collaboration with Peking University – Plans to Establish Research Institute in Shenzhen
Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Shenzhen News – May 13 – The Malaysian-based Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is actively preparing to establish a research institute in Shenzhen. A delegation led by UTM’s commercial arm UTMSPACE, headed by CEO Prof. Ts. Dr. Nazri bin Ali, visited Shenzhen to conduct discussions with relevant local institutions and explore future cooperation opportunities.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Shenzhen Virtual University Park (SVUP) and engaged in in-depth dialogues regarding potential collaboration in higher education, advanced TVET, and cross-border academic research. The initiative is part of UTM’s broader strategy to expand its presence in China and promote internationalisation and educational exchanges between the two nations.
According to Prof. Nazri, UTMSPACE Shenzhen Institute will serve as a bridge for cooperation with top Chinese institutions and enterprises. It is expected to promote joint research, academic programme delivery, and talent development, positioning Shenzhen as a gateway for UTM’s transnational education efforts.
The article also notes the support and facilitation provided by MAGONGDA (Shenzhen) International Education Co., Ltd. and CUC Brand Glocal Research Centre, which are working closely with UTMSPACE to realise the plan. The tripartite Memorandum of Cooperation recently signed by the three parties lays the foundation for this strategic collaboration.
